Keeping It Real Link Up

Earlier this month I wrote about how  I wanted to share life From My Heart with you, as I grow more and more passionate about keeping it real online in the same way I live in real life.

I want to give you a ‘fessing up story of my sin shaped in a God-lesson, because that is what real life is all about.

I want to share an honest-to-goodness struggle in my parenting, because I am not a perfect parent even though I teach about parenting with grace.

I want to share moments in which the Lord revealed His Word-come-to-life reality, even though there is so much I don’t understand.

I want to be imperfectly real with you, without fear of getting hurt, but in fear of not ever sharing the stories from my heart that testify of the glory of God.

I want to be real with you, not simply to air dirty laundry or gain sympathy.  Oh no.  I want my real stories to demonstrate the realness of God at work in the mess, through the mess, and in spite of the mess.

Why?

Because I think that one of the ways the Enemy likes to steal our joy is by defeating us with the thinking that we’re the problem, all the time, and that we are in this completely and utterly alone (John 10:10).  Neither is true!  Yes, our sin causes a ripple effect in our lives and others. It is wise to live in a posture of humility and repentance, checking our spirits against our flesh before passing the blame buck to someone else. But sometimes, what we’re experiencing is simply the effect of living in a fallen world (Romans 3:23).

We need a broader perspective to see that many of the problems we face are universal, and many of the solutions others have implemented are viable for our situations, too. This is the benefit of being part of the body of Christ, where one member supports another, interceding with prayer and offering a listening ear or possibly an encouraging word (Romans 12:4, 1 Thessalonians 5:11).

My hope is that by sharing our real life stories, we’ll be ministering to one another in a way that causes our faith to flourish and inspires us to press on to the Cross for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Are you willing to be real with me, too?

  1. Thanks for the link up! I see so many “too perfect” people on blogs, and I think it’s so much more beneficial for everyone involved to be as real as possible, while still maintaining an overall positive, encouraging tone. BLessings to you!
