A Superabundantly More Celebration

Without a doubt, there is one verse that I’ve quoted more over the last year than any other verse . . .

Ephesians 3:20 (AMP)

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us…

I’ve seen God move in such miraculous ways, and as many of you have journeyed with me personal and along with the ministry here at More to Be, I’m sure you could agree. But for benefit of those joining us most recently, along with the joy of recounting God’s faithfulness, I thought it would be worth a little historical reflection of how God brought together superabundantly more than I could ask or imagine, especially in the creation of this very ministry! It’s been a journey of joy and suffering, sacrifice and blessing in due time.

1993 – the year of my salvation . . . and my entire life purpose being re-routed around submitting to God’s plans, not mine
1995 – married to Stephen and gave up my personal dreams to embrace our God-ordained path together . . . and there’s been not a single regret for doing so twenty years later!
1997 – moved to a boarding school for the sake of Stephen’s job, where my heart for mentoring was truly set on fire
1999 – 2005 – babies, babies, babies . . . and lots of time at home or in Bible study at church wondering what God was doing with me . . . these were hard years, but I already see the fruit of investment now!
2005 – began blogging on New Year’s Eve and soon realized my passion for writing for the Lord
2006 – began speaking locally and mentoring teens one-on-one in a more formal, purposefully capactity
2007 – painful, heart-healing years for me personally, which you can read about it Meet the New You . . . God really did transform me from the inside out as He changed my thinking to line up with the Word and changed my life for the better
2008 – the birth of ETC in my home, in while in the process of being personally transformed
2010 – God called me to lay down blogging for a year, experience awesome discipleship, and in the spring, He birthed the idea of More to Be as a way to share the overflow of what I doing in real life and make available the resources I produced for working with my ETC girls (hello, thank you college degree in writing and graphic design)
2011 – launched More to Be with a desire to equip women, especially moms, to experience life transformed and go forth impacting the next generation
2012became trained as a life coach, never know that it would become my passion and career, and self-published Impact My Life: Biblical Mentoring Simplified after writing a 31-day series on mentoring

When God does Superabundantly More

2013 – pursued by an agent to write a mother-daughter devotional bible study, which ended up being rejected, yet it became the foundation for the ENGAGE Bible study series, which has impacted the lives of thousands of teen girls
2014 – my agent pitched the idea for Meet the New You to me and I cried . . . it was such a different direction than I thought I wanted to go, but my husband highly encouraged this opportunity to tell me story and testify about how God has changed me from the inside out while sharing all that He has taught me over the years . . . so I said a big YES, wrote the proposal, and was shocked to receive multiple offers before signing a contract with Waterbrook Multonomah six months later, wondering throughout the process what would come of More to Be and my mission to impact the next generation
2015 – life was turned upside down in a sudden, but God-ordained decision to leave our boarding school home of 18 year, and move to another state for a job day school . . .we moved in June . . .  Meet the New You released December 15  . . . yikes, what a year!
Spring 2016 – experienced the joy of seeing my coaching business grow and develop while heeding the Lord’s leading to release an expanded and revised edition Impact My Life as Impact Together: Biblical Mentoring Simplified
Summer 2016 – fresh vision for the purpose of More to Be along with the blessing of gifted new writers joining our team, plus the “go ahead” from God to begin work on another dream . . . formalizing my life coaching and leadership development business . . . take a peak at the Kaleo Agency . . . while still continuing to invest in the ministry of More to Be
Fall 2016 – invited to coordinate a One2One Mentoring ministry at church and speak into the lives of leaders about generational differences using the contact of Impact Together . . .  wow, God knows what He is doing getting this resource ready just in time!

God has been at work behind the scenes and in the middle of messes, leading and guiding each step of the way.

He has done exceedingly, abundantly more than I could ask or imagine, not only with the ministry of More to Be, but especially in my heart and my family. Oh, the mess I came from. Oh the course I was on just twenty-five years ago compared to what I get to do today to serve the Lord.

Friend, if you’re in the throws of wondering about the purpose of your life, I urge you to not rest in dismay and discouragement but to rise up, pursue God, and ask Him for an understanding of your past as you look forward to your future.

He’s not done with you. He’s not done with me. Together, we have to fight against the doubt that He is, especially when life feels hard, hurried, and without a sense of His leading.

Yes as much as I’ve seen His hand at work, there have been so many times I doubted what He was doing. I’ve felt inadequate and not good enough. Yes, rejection stink! I’ve wondered about His purposes and questioned His intentions. The move was oh-so-hard. Oh yes, the flesh has trumped the Spirit too many times. But as I take a pause to reflect on history, I see God at work even in the mess.

By looking back, I find that God is increasing my faith to anticipate what’s next.

In the past, I might have said I’m hoping for a  bigger, better, or broader reach. But not now, I’m totally content to persevere . . . and strive for being steady on . . . as we wait to see His provisions and purposes exactly as He sees fit.

Let’s Celebrate Superabundant Blessings Together

So, will you join me in giving thanks to the Lord for His faithfulness to this ministry? This month, we’re officially five years old! Will you celebrate with me at His provisions? And will you pray for His leading, protection, and purposes to prevail going forward?

What’s a celebration without gifts!

We’re excited to bless you with . . .

As we celebrate, may we also join together, seeking Him for His work, with a willing heart to be used as He sees fit to impact the next generation. Yes, that process often starts with us getting our hearts whole and healed before God. From their, we can muster up that soul strength to leap in faith and join Him in the work He has for us.

Together, may we become women of impact, shining brighter and more beautiful, more like Jesus each and ever day.

Abiding in Him,
Lisa

  1. Celebrating with you!!! So thankful to know you and be known by you.
It is so good to step back and see God at work even in the hard places and trust that He is already present in the places to come.
    With Joy,Carey

    1. Carey, I am so thankful that this passed year marked the beginning of our friendship. I don’t think I would have made it through, and remained sane, without you.

  2. Wow! God is great and greatly to be praised. So thankful for you Elisa, and to be on this journey with you! Celebrating & rejoicing with you!
    Your sister in Christ,
    Linda
