What do you do when you keep asking God for an answer about something and still don’t hear anything? How do you wait?

This is such a great question, because it is something every Christian will struggle with over their life time.  There are times that God is silent.  Plain and simple. At times, it may be due to our sin.  When we are not living according to Scripture — sinning by disobeying God’s instructions — we separate ourselves from God.  His voice will be unrecognizable and He will withhold His blessing.

However, there are also times when we are not actively sinning or refusing repentance but  God does not answer our prayers.  In that situation, we may assume that what we are asking may not be in God will or timing.  The challenge, then, is to wait on God.  We do that by continue to read the Scriptures daily, pray and confess our honest feelings before the Lord, and by seeking  friendships with believers that will encourage us to persevere.

No doubt, it is a difficult season of life when we feel the absence of God and/or His direction. Many times, God is using the time of silence to teach us about Himself and mold us into the person He desires us to become.

The best thing you can do is seek the counsel of an older Christian woman or your pastor.  They will be able to pray with you, encourage you, and possibly offer some direction or wisdom based on the Word and their own experience.

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
