M.O.M. Challenge

Vacation has arrived for most American families, which means both a break from routine and a disruption in schedule.  For some moms, this is a needed change of pace, while other moms can’t wait until the school day hustle to return. Personally, I find myself caught in the middle of both emotional responses.  I delight in later mornings and time to tackle some home projects together.   I treasure the family play time and longer meals around the table laughing and telling stories. But I also struggle with staying on top of the chores when the house if full of warm bodies and the trail they leave wherever they go!  And for someone like me, who needs a good dose of alone time, it is a struggle to not feel over-stimulate!  It is so tempting to want everyone to go back to school, simply to get everything back in order!

But how does wishing the time away make the most of our opportunities to show the love of Christ to our families?

How does packing in the week with projects and plans bring quality family time and rest to our lives?

What is the best way to spend this time together with eternal value?

So this break, I’m embarking on a M.O.M. Challenge and I invite you to join me in doing the same.  The Lord laid on my heart a mission for this week, inspired from Ephesians 5:16:  To make the most of every opportunity to show fierce love as I focus on my children instead of the space in which we dwell and the activities that demand our time.

For the next nine days, I want to cultivate meaningful interactions with my children as I hit the pause button on life to focus on looking into their eyes, listening to their hearts, leaning into their lives, laughing together, and leading by example.  Yes, I want to live this way as a mom every single day, so really the M.O.M. Challenge is an opportunity to recharge my intentionality in my mothering.

Would you like to join me?

All you need to do is make the commitment to the Lord and find someone to hold you accountable.  You may also want to post this challenge at your blog with a notice that you’re taking the week off to be with your family.  Or you may want to post on Facebook, asking for accountability to have friends kick you off, if you’re posting too much!

Feel free to leave a comment or link below sharing your commitment to the M.O.M. Challenge.  But instead of feeling compelled to visit all the links, just encourage the one gal whose name is above yours.

Make the most of your time with your family this week.
