Tween Bible Study: Casual Cupcake Party

Tween girls.  They are delightful.  Bubbly.  Outrageous chatterboxes.  Full of secret thoughts.  Desperately trying to figure out who they are.  Still little girls.  Not yet all grown up.  And totally in need of love, grace, wisdom and guidance.

They definitely think they know it all, so they don’t want a lecture.  Nor do they want to be left to figure it all out themselves.  So, why not toss a bit of creativity together with a tiny little Bible study and you’ll deliver a whole lot of truth and good dose of laughter to your special gaggle of tween girls.

  1. Hi – just stumbled across your blog and love this idea – I disciple High School girls (so older than tweens, but still struggling with the grown up side of the equation) and this is just a perfect idea for a start to our over-nights during the summer. Thank you!

    1. I’m so glad you stumbled here, too. Please do let us know how your even turns out. We’re thrilled to be able to share our gifts with you!

  2. This is wonderful-really cute idea! I’ve worked a lot with young girls between the ages of 12-18. Doing so has really blessed MY life 🙂

  3. I found this bible study and recently started one in my home for my 10yo daughter and her friends. It has been such a hit that we have been meeting monthly since the beginning of 2013! I am trying to keep it to 9-10 girls at a time, but the Lord is blessing it a LOT. Even the moms who attend are enjoying it. One question I have, do you have any other lessons to follow? I have been scouring the internet, even purchased a tween devo, but haven’t really gotten anything I really enjoy as much as yours! 🙂
I have written my own since January…help!! Haha! Thank you for this great idea!

    1. Oh Angie, that is so awesome. In addition to this cupcake study, there is the newest one — Pizza Party — https://www.moretobe.com/2013/04/09/tween-bible-study-pizza-party/. You could also use some of the Topical Free Downloads and customize them for your needs: https://www.moretobe.com/downloads/. And the Dig Deep Guides for Redefining Beauty, One Degree, and Refresh would be great options — not too mature! https://www.moretobe.com/digdeepguides/ Plus, I’m working on a project that will meet just your need. If you want to get in on it, sign up for my Jump Sister group here: http://www.elisapulliam.com/2013/04/23/become-a-jump-sister/.

  5. Thank you for posting this idea. We did the cupcake party and devotional last night and it was WONDERFUL! The girls had a blast making and baking and decorating. I tailored the devotional to our girls and they really enjoyed it and got something out of it that they can take with them into womanhood (and some great memories besides). This is an activity that I will probably do again and again every few years as a sort of “rite of passage” for our teen girls. The guys and the little kids were totally jealous of the fun we were having….but they were fine after we gave them some cupcakes! 🙂

  6. My 11 year old daughter wants to start a Bible study for tween girls! I think this might be just what she wants to do. Of course, I would lead it.

  7. Hi Elisa,
I live on Maui we have few programs for girls where we live. I am trying to get something going for my daughter and her friends both Christian and non- believing. It is my hearts desire to see all these beautiful little girls knowing and loving Jesus. Thank you for your wonderful ideas , Hope you keep them coming. Do you have any thoughts on a book to use as a guideline? Thank you

    1. Jen, how lovely to hear from you and see how God is stretching our resources far and wide. Your heart is beautiful and we pray that God will equip you to serve the girls in your life. I would highly recommend downloading our ETC resources for how to form a group like you have in mind. You can also get a hold of “Impact My Life: Biblical Mentoring Simplified” on Amazon to equip you as a leader. And you can use the “Journey to Freedom: Bible Study on Identity” with your girls. It would be a great option for the fall, and it’s available on Amazon or in PDF form with a leader’s guide –> https://www.moretobe.com/freedom/. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at more at moretobe dot com.

  8. Thank you so much for this info, I have a 12 year old that this would be perfect for. I am praying about starting up a Bible Study for young girls. I ma not sure I can even lead a study but I can with God’s help. Never done anything like this before but things have surely changed since my older kids were 12. Any ideas on a Bible study for 11-14 year olds?

    God Bless You
    Paula

  10. Hi, I just ordered 2 copies of your Journey to Freedom books. Another mother of a teen in our church and myself are looking into starting an identity class for our youth girls. It was put on my heart through discernment of how the enemy is attacking that particular age group and when discussing with her, she told me how God revealed it to her about her daughter as well so we’re going in strong. They’re not his to have and the sooner they learn this the better! This cupcake idea may be just the perfect icebreaker to incorporate into this little class for one of our girls nights! Thanks for sharing!!! Prayers appreciated!
