{Feature It} World On Campus

Have you ever wished you could be more in tune with the goings-on in the world?

Maybe you’re home schooled or attend a Christian school or college and feel like you’re stuck in a “bubble.”

Maybe you’re in a more secular environment and feel like you’re only hearing one side of the story.

Maybe you’re tired of the all-too-common perception of young women as an audience for fashion and pop culture mags and, well, not much else.

If any of these is true for you, allow me to suggest World On Campus as a potential solution.

Run by WORLD Magazine, a Christian news publication founded in 1986, World On Campus is a web-based news source designed specifically for college students and other young people. It’s completely free, and covers everything from campus controversies to popular entertainment to international politics. Head to http://www.worldoncampus.com/account/register to sign up for an account!

WORLD’s “About Us” page describes its mission saying,

“Our purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever–and forever begins right now.”

They go on to specify that “we aren’t Christians with rules against anything that’s fun, because God made fun too.” I’ve been reading WORLD since high school, and I can honestly say it’s been an integral part of my formation as a young adult. With the recently added online resource of World On Campus, students can enjoy quality news from a Christian perspective for no cost whatsoever.

I urge you, do not miss out on this opportunity.

“The News,” to our generation at least, often sounds boring and old-fashioned. Trust me, I know. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve pulled WORLD Magazine out of my mailbox at boarding school or college and had a friend inquire disdainfully, “Is that a news magazine?”

But we, as Christians, are called to be salt and light in the world. As such, we need to view being aware of what the world is up to as our responsibility and privilege.

And what a privilege it is. Let’s not take for granted how rare it is to have access to uncensored, Christ-inspired news reporting. Even if you’ve never really read the news, give World On Campus a try. You might be surprised how interesting it is, and I promise you’ll learn all kinds of things you’ve never known before.
