Do you have that one favorite song that you just cannot get out of your head?

Or would you like to listen to something brand new yet don’t have the time to surf the iTunes store?

Well, I’m here to help you out with finding new music each month.  “What Goes In” will feature music worth talking about and will hopefully inspire to live out your faith every day, especially as you think about the Biblical truths captured in the lyrics of music artists persevering to serve God with their talent!

Top Favs on My Playlist This Month

1. Building 429 :: Bonfire {listen to it here}

Building 429 recently released there newest album “We Won’t Be Shaken“, which features some of the best songs I have heard from them. Although each song is wonderful, my favorite song has to be “Bonfire.” It’s a great song that reminds us to be on fire for God. So much so that we could easily light a bonfire! My favorite lyrics/verse says:

This is the shout out, this is my voice
Calling all the men, women, girls and boys
The dropouts and losers, the hurt and the broke
Time to reclaim what the darkness has stole
Marching to the beat of a different drum
We live for the love, without counting the cost
If you wanna be free, then it’s time to go
Lift up your hand so the world will know!

2. Brandon Heath :: Love Does {listen to it here}

Though Brandon’s newest album “Blue Mountain” was released over six months ago, his songs are still making a big impact. One of my favorites from the album is, “Love Does.” This song is a great reminder that even when other people don’t notice that we are hurting or going through tough times, God’s love is present. My favorite part of the song is the last verse, where Brandon really delivers the meaning to his song:

Somebody knows
Somebody cries
Somebody feels
Love does
Somebody walks
Somebody sees
Somebody knows
Love does

3. Matthew West :: Hello My Name Is {listen to it here}

Matthew West has truly created a song for everyone! Currently at number 3 on the Christian and Gospel iTunes chart, the beat of his “Hello My Name Is” makes you want to get up and dance, while the lyrics reach right to your heart. Matthew tells us that we are not identified with our past, but with the knowledge that we are a “Child of the One True King!” The chorus is definitely the best part of the song:

These are the voices, these are the lies
And I have believed them, for the very last time
Hello, my name is child of the one true King
I’ve been saved, I’ve been changed, and I have been set free
“Amazing Grace” is the song I sing
Hello, my name is child of the one true King

Have these songs or artists touched you?

I would love to know some of your favorite bands and songs as well!

Leave a comment and maybe I’ll feature you and your favorite music next month!

  1. I love music! I am particularly found of music from the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. Also love Bethel Worship Music. A particular favorite of mine in this season is “You Know Me”. You can listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVVlMQved8k. Brings a tear to my ears, every time. Thank you for sharing your love of music. Love the song by Matthew West! Blessings!

  2. Love these songs! I have so many favorites, but one that always encourages me is Jake Hamilton’s The Anthem–and fittingly titled.
    From the first words, “I can hear the footsteps of my King,” I am taken by it. My heart connects in a special way to every word.
    “He’s calling, ‘Wake up, child. It’s your turn to shine. You were born for such a time as this.'” –awesome lyrics, anointed song

    thanks for this post-I love to discover new songs, too!

  3. I have a list that I always play but two songs that I love to listen to are: Mercy Me’s You Are I Am and Hillsong’s Beautiful Exchange.
