What Goes In: August Music Favs

what_goes_in

With loads of new iTunes gift cards from my birthday, the choices of songs for this month’s post were endless! Trying to pick just three songs to share is simply impossible, so I decided to add a bonus song into this months picks. Hope you enjoy!

1.  Matt Maher –  Lord I Need You

{listen here}

Matt Maher has truly delivered an amazing worship song with “Lord I Need You,” which has been on the iTunes Christian and Gospel Top Ten Chart since its release. With a modern twist on the old hymn, “I Need Thee Every Hour,” Matt sings of confessing to God how much we need Him and how we can be free in Christ. Not only can this be a great song to sing in church or listen to at home, it can easily be turned into a wonderful prayer to God. Here is my favorite part:

Where sin runs deep Your grace is more

Where grace is found is where You are

And where You are, Lord, I am free

Holiness is Christ in me

2. 7eventh Time Down –  Just Say Jesus

{listen here}

The band 7eventh Time Down’s newest single, which released around two months ago, was the first song I had heard from the them, and they had me hooked.  “Just Say Jesus” is all about the power of the name of Jesus and how we can always call upon his name in times of despair. Who doesn’t need to hear that truth! I love it! My favorite part of the song is the chorus:

When you don’t know what to say

Just say Jesus

There is power in the name

The name of Jesus

If the words won’t come

Cause you’re to afraid to pray

Just say Jesus

3. Anthem Lights – Fight Forever

{listen here}

I’d have to say that Anthem Lights latest single, “Fight Forever” is one of the most motivational Christian songs I have heard recently. The band sings about giving everything we have to “fight for the king of forever.” “Fight Forever,” is the first single released by the band from their upcoming album due at the end of the summer. My favorite part of the song is the bridge:

Our King has won the war

He reigns forevermore

Alleluia, Alleluia

4. Aaron Shust – God of Brilliant Lights

{listen here}

“God of Brilliant Lights” is definitely my favorite song from Aaron Shust’s newest album, “Morning Rises.” In the song, Aaron sings about God, the creator of everything, breaking through the darkness of this world to cover us with mercy and to heal our broken hearts. My favorite lyrics are:

Sinners come to the cross

And lay your troubles down

At the feet of the one whose mercy will abound

He’s not afraid of our filth

He will never turn away

I hope you enjoyed this month’s What Goes In edition! I would like to give a shout out to Barbie with her suggestion to me of  “You Know Me” by Bethel Music featuring Steffany Frizzell. What a beautiful song!

Feel free to leave a comment with your favorite song or artist and maybe I will feature it next month, or give you and your favorite music a shout out!
