We Remember 9/11…and We’re Praying

We remember 9/11 with prayer.

There’s not an American who isn’t aware of today being 9/11. For many of us, we can recall the moment we heard of the attacks. I had just returned from our daily morning walk with friends, nearly 9 months pregnant and still pushing my firstborn daughter in the jogging stroller.  I was just about to plop her in front of Barney to head up to the shower, when the news flashed across the screen. I thought it was a bad movie. And then I realized it was real life. Real life not too far from home.

The devastation of 9/11 is near to us. Still. With my middle daughter born a month after 9/11, we’ve walked through the journey of her having a classmate who lost her dad in the line of duty. Another one whose traumatic experience marred his life forever. One of our mentor girls and beloved babysitters lost her uncle.

9/11 is personal for our family, because of the people we love whose lives have been forever changed.

So on this day, we remember the heros that fought to save our people.

We remember the innocent who lost their lives simply by going about their normal September day.

We remember and pray for the families who have had to put together a new normal.

We remember and pray for all those who are risking their lives today for the sake of our freedom and with a passion to protect our country, our people.

And we lift up to the Lord those who continue to seek to harm human beings, that God would intercede in their lives and remove the masks from their eyes so that they may see the power of a Redeeming God and surrender their lives to His reign.

We ask you to join us in prayer today, too.
