Are YOU Feeling Talked About?

Do you ever feel like the people who are closest to you are talking about you or are mad at you? Are you feeling yourself pulling away to try and protect yourself? Are you acting out in anger and maybe even spite?

Are you feeling talked about?

Here is the question I ask of you…

Is it even real?

We all go through times when we are feeling isolated from those we love. Sometimes it is real and there are some real issues between us that need to be resolved. But sometimes it is NOT real; it is stirred up in our minds. Sometimes it is stirred up when WE are struggling with feeling guilty about something we’ve done. Sometimes it is stirred up by our emotional instability during certain times of the month. Sometimes it seems to be stirred up out of the blue.

But you can be sure that the enemy is happy to stir things up even further and get US to the point of responding to our feelings – whether they are true or not!

So what DO we do when we feel our close friends are talking about us or are angry with us?

We lovingly bring it out into the open!

1 John 1:6-7

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

is feeling talked about keeping you living in darkness or walking toward light
Are we living in darkness or walking toward light?

Like cockroaches that THRIVE in the dark and hidden places, so the enemy seeks the darkness to stir up strife in our hearts. But turn on the light and those cockroaches SCATTER. When we bring the fears and worries and anger out into the open to expose it, the enemy also scatters.

What does this mean?

When we feel like there is something between us and a friend, we talk to them about it!

Rom 12:18

If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.

I know this can be a scary thing. They MIGHT just tell us that they are mad at us! But we need to find what might be bringing division between us and destroy it. If we did something to hurt them, we need to:

  • know it
  • repent of it
  • make it right

How can we fix something if we don’t know it’s broken? Like a festering wound that is making our whole body sick, if we don’t tell the doctor, he can’t make it better! Sometimes it will hurt before it gets better. The wound may need to be lanced (punctured) in order to drain the infection out. But once all the poison is released from the body, we can begin to finally heal within the body.

We may need to hear hard things from a friend and begin to make changes inside of us (with the Lord) before we can begin to heal any hurts in our relationship.

However, you may find that your feelings of being talked about or of being mad at were really only that… just feelings. Wouldn’t THAT be nice!

But it all starts with TRUTH.
