What Goes In: October Music Favs (nice and loud)

For this month, I decided to go with some of my favorite upbeat, and sometimes on the loud side, Christian music. Between the inspirational rap of Lecrae and the techno sound of Toby Mac, this music will get you ready to run a marathon.

1.  “Tell the World” by Lecrae featuring Mali Music

Unlike the  previous artists I have featured, Lecrae is not nearly as well known, simply because of his style. Lecrae is a Christian Hip Hop and Rap artist whose life story is all but ordinary. Growing up he never had good influence in his life, so he turned to the gangster lifestyle. Only when he was almost arrested for drug possession, did he turn his life back on track. The song “Tell the World” featuring Mali Music is about telling the world that God can give new life to even the biggest sinner. The chorus goes like this:

Now, I’mma tell the world, tell ‘em

I’mma tell it everywhere I go

Tell the world, tell ‘em

Yeah, I’m a billboard

Tell the world, tell ‘em

And I’m broadcastin’ like a radio

Tell the world

You ought to know, I’m brand new

2.  “Well Done” by Moriah Peters

From a young age, Moriah Peters always loved to sing. So when she landed herself a spot to audition for American Idol, she couldn’t say no. The judges loved her voice and her looks, but were shocked when they read her bio that said she was saving her first kiss for her wedding day and that she led a girls Bible study. The judges dismissed her saying that she needed to get out in the world, make some mistakes, and kiss a boy and then come back to them. Disappointed, she walked out of the room questioning God, when she was met by a stranger who heard one of her interviews and her stellar voice. He decided to help her to get a three track demo. Moriah released her first album “I Choose Jesus” in April of 2012.  Her song “Well Done” is still one of my favorites. In the song, Moriah sings about entering heaven and hearing God say “well done.” Here is the bridge:

I’m gonna run this race

To hear You say well done

I’m gonna run this race

To hear You say well done

Well done

 3. “Eye On It” by TobyMac ft. Britt Nicole

listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAdxaXSnMq4

First known from his part in the group DC Talk, Toby Mac has been in the Christian music industry from 1987 and continues to put out hit song after hit song. Over the years he has never ceased to fail his fans with his energetic and uplifting Hip Hop/Pop music. Toby Mac has sold over 10 million albums, had numerous No. 1 Billboard hits, won awards at the AMA’s, BMA’s, Grammys, GMA Covenants, and GMA Dove awards. His newest album “Eye On It” is has songs continuing to make the Top 100. The title track, similarly named “Eye On It” is about keeping our eye on the prize (heaven) and never looking anywhere else but the cross. Here is the first verse:

I set my eyes to the west, walkin’ away from it all

Reachin’ for what lies ahead, I got my eye on it

I see my sweat hit the ground

I put my foot in the block

This is the race of my life

And I can’t wait for this show
