For the Moms…of Raising Generations Today

Are you a mom with a passion to raise up the next generation for the glory of God?

Do you desire to speak into your tweens and teens as you come alongside them with a mentoring mindset?

Well, you’re not alone. This weekend, I’m spending my time with over 225 women who desire to raise up the next generation. We’re at the very first Raising Generations Today Conference being held in upstate New York, and I have the honor or leading a workshop that is near and dear to my heart:  Mentoring the Hearts of Your Tweens & Teens.  It is my hope and prayer that the message I share will refuel these mommas and give them the practical resources they need to return to their homes with an eternal purpose in mind…resources like this prayer for a mentor mom…and more.

  1. I sat in your workshop this weekend and I have to say that it spoke to me more than you know. I have been that angry and frustrated mom who yells for a year or so and it seems to be getting worse this year as my tween gets more and more of a “strong leader” attitude and my 3 year old twins go through their defiant stage. It was all I could do to not break down sobbing when you said “if you love us so much, why do you treat us this way?” I did, however, breakdown later. I got real honest with myself and poured my heart out to God. He broke me down this weekend, but lovingly built me back up. I was refreshed in this walk of Christian motherhood. I spoke with my tween and we cried together. This morning I even took it a step further at church. The message was about hearing God in your life. I shared my experience from this weekend, and was honest with them about my anger issues. Many of them came up to me after the service, telling me how much they appreciated me sharing and how they have been in the same situation but were never brave enough to say it. They offered me support, babysitting time, and a cup of coffee anytime I needed it. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

    1. Oh my word, Candy! Thank you so very much for sharing your story and experience with me. I am so incredibly blessed and honored and humbled to know God use my workshop to encourage you and begin a new work in you. I will be praying for you and asking God to continue his work in you! (And I’ll be emailing you, too!)

    2. I just want to say how brave you are, Candy. So many times I hear something that pricks my heart, and I promise to do better, but it ends there. You took measures to ensure that you can be successful at real change, by talking both with your daughter and your church. YAY! You are an inspiration. 🙂

      1. Thanks Christie, but you probably give me more credit than I deserve. It is still a day to day battle. Yesterday was a bad day in our house. One where no matter how hard I worked I wasn’t accomplishing anything and the kids got into everything while I was trying to clean, including a tub of Vic’s Baby Vaporub. Those are the times I lose it more easily, when that evil little voice sneaks in my mind telling me I am a failure and nothing I do matters. I felt it bubbling inside of me. I did punish my children for touching things they weren’t supposed to, but it was different from what it used to be. I didn’t punish angry if that makes sense. I took a step back and saw the signs of impending doom. It was then that I could change it. I am sure it will continue to be a day by day, minute by minute, struggle for a while to come. But as long as I keep looking forward, and turning upward, I can do it.
