Instilling a Passion for Purity

Through my years of mentoring teens combined with my experience as a life coach for women, many of whom are moms, I’ve come to discover that “having the talk” and cultivating a vision of purity is not something that comes naturally for most.

There’s is overarching insecurity and feeling of hypocrisy that keeps most moms silent at a time in which preteens, tweens, and teens need to hear the truth laced with grace and humility from the people who love them most.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been on the receiving end of a mentoring teens afraid to approach their moms with questions or because I’ve heard from my own teen girls what’s happening on the social scene amongst the perceived “good” girls, that I’m all the more passionate about equipping moms to step up and speak into their children’s lives on this topic of purity–life long purity as I shared about here.

Passport to Purity

And it’s also why I’m thankful to have the chance to experience Family Life’s third edition of the Passport2Purity Getaway Kit by Dennis and Barbara Rainey. With two ten year olds in the house, I’m grateful for this tool and the ways my husband and I will implement it with our youngest daughter and son. Passport to PurityThe getaway kit includes:

~ Tour Guide for the parent

~ Travel Journal for the preteen including 25 follow-up devotions

~ 8 CDs containing 5 sessions, scripture memory songs and downloadable MP3s:

  • Session 1: Beginning the Journey – Challenges, Traps, and Choices
  • Session 2: Running With The Herd – Friendships and Peer Pressure
  • Session 3: Ready For An Upgrade? – Changes in Him, Changes in Her
  • Session 4: Destination: Lé Pure – Setting Boundaries
  • Session 5: Crossing The Date Line – Seeing Dating Differently

FamilyLife developed Passport2Purity (P2P) to assist moms and dads in building heart-to-heart communication with their preteens while laying a foundation of purity that will prepare him or her for the turbulent years ahead.

Through the shared listening experience, object lessons and guided conversations of a P2P weekend getaway, moms and dads can set their son or daughter on a journey of moral integrity – and strengthen their bond.  While it is suggested that the materials be completed over a weekend away from home, as the child may be more open to discussing the topics away from his or her normal environment, it’s certainly possible for the content to be completed over a period of four or five weeks.

Family Life believes that the primary defense for your child is a strong relationship with you and with God.

I couldn’t agree more. I highly recommend Passport 2 Purity. You can learn more about their resources at here, and watch the trailer here.
