The Gospel Lived Out

I will speak the Good News and live out the Gospel in private and public.

Verse

Psalm 40:10

I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help.
I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness
    from the great assembly.

Matthew 24:14

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

God, we don’t want to hide your righteousness in our hearts because we want to be women who speak of your faithfulness and saving help. May we not ever conceal your love or faithfulness from those who desperately need to know you and embrace you for themselves.

Please, God, give us the courage to speak of the Gospel message to every listening ear.

May this be our kingdom mission. May we preach your Good News to the whole world, to be a testimony to all nations before the end comes.

In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.

We can't be ambassadors of the Good News if we're not intentionally and personally connecting with the God we represent.

What does it look like for you to speak the Good News and live it out in your personal and private life? Maybe you think of the misquote attributed to Francis Assisi, “Preach the Gospel, and if necessary, use words.” Yes, it’s been reported that the monk didn’t actually say those words, which is actually a good thing because the principle isn’t even biblically sound.

Throughout Scripture we find the call to go forth and preach the Good News. It’s plain. It’s simple. And it comes straight from Jesus.

Mark 16:15 NLT

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
Make no mistake, “preach” means exactly what you think it does . . . to speak aloud:
    1. to proclaim after the manner of a herald

    2. to publish, proclaim openly: something which has been done

    3. used of the public proclamation of the gospel and matters pertaining to it, made by John the Baptist, by Jesus, by the apostles and other Christian teachers (source)

Preach is what our preachers do on Sunday mornings and weekday podcasts. But it is also what we, as followers of Christ, have been commissioned to do in everyday relationships and ordinary conversations.

Where our hearts are connected to others, we’re called to pour forth the Words of God and His very good news.

It doesn’t have to be eloquent or steeped in theological jargon. Actually, it’s probably better if we use our natural vernacular and even throw in a bit of our most common slang. It won’t necessarily be easy to find the words to express the Good News. The same urging Paul offered Timothy likely applies to us. We will have to “work at telling others the Good News” in order to fully carry out this ministry God has given to us.

 2 Timothy 4:5

But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.

In the face of our own insecurities, we can cling to this truth: Our life’s greatest mission is to be used in God’s Kingdom work of bringing the Good News to every nation, starting with the very people He’s put us in relationship with.

But in order to do so effectively, we need to live it out authentically.

We need to dig into the Word daily.

We need to sit with the Lord and invite the Holy Spirit to bring the Scriptures alive in our hearts and minds.

We need to be willing to think biblically in a world that will challenge us to pursue emotional relevancy and comfort.

We need to act on the Word in every way, demonstrating our love of the Lord through our obedience to His commands.

We can’t be ambassadors of the Good News if we’re not intentionally and personally connecting with the God we represent.

What will it take for you to authentically live out the Scriptures so that you can confidently be a messenger of the Good News?
