Top Tech Tools to Organize Your Life

Most of us are rather determined to be good stewards of our time. The tasks on our to-do lists often reflect the priorities we’ve set for our families, alongside a portion of time to enjoy our passions.

The problem with our full lives isn’t necessarily in the “what we have to do” but rather in how we go about managing all of these tasks in the time given each day.

In my pursuit of balance, nothing can be more important than starting the day with the Lord, devoting time to reading the Word and sitting quietly in prayer. I learned long ago to yield my day to Him and ask specifically for God to reveal His work for me that I might join Him in it. But I’ve also incorporated into my routine some great tools that enable me to keep my priorities straight and my focus clear. Since tech is changing as fast as the needs coming at me, some may stick around for a while and others may disappear to the technology graveyard.

Tech Tools to Keep You On Track

  • Google Calendar offers an online, shareable calendars that can be categorized, along with reminders for appointments.
  • CapsuleCRM.com is a useful online program for managing contacts and scheduling reminders, especially when you want to keep your business clients separate from your personal address book.
  • Cozi.com is both a website and app for keeping grocery lists, chores, and homework details together as it can be accessed by a personal email address and one family password.
  • YouVersion is website and app that allows you to pick a Bible reading plan (dozens to choose from) and it keeps track of your reading, allows for notes, and offers the option to post verses to Facebook and Twitter.
  • Kindle App is for reading eBooks even if you don’t have a Kindle. You can also sync between your devices using the Kindle Cloud reader.
  • Evernote is website and app for storing every bit of information, idea, and digital document that you want to be able to refer back to later on. I treat it like a digital sticky-note pad, filing bin, and bulletin board.
  • Boomerang for Gmail allows you to schedule emails to be sent at a later time or resent, so rather than putting it on your “to do” list, you can accomplish the task while it is fresh on your mind.
  • Rescue Time is a website with a plugin you can install on your computer to monitor your time spent working and being distracted.
  • Meet Circle by Disney is a device and service that enables you to set limits on online and device usage within your home by person. I highly recommend this device if you have tweens and teens.
