God Most High | Encounter God #2

Wednesdays in the Word

What comes to mind when you hear the expression, “God Most High?”

Do you picture Him floating above the clouds?

Can you see His fingerprints spread across the globe, touching every mountain peak and the deepest valley below the ocean blue?

Maybe you are in a season in which you feel forsaken by the God Most High.

Or maybe you’ve discovered that your best option is to cry out to God Most High, begging for His protection, provision, or redemption.

My shield is God Most High,
who saves the upright in heart.

Psalm 7:10 NIV

God is our shield. He is God Most High. Above all things. Before all things. After all things. He is the one we can take refuge in (Psalm 7:1). God is the one who will revenge injustices and vindicate wrongs (Psalm 7:6-9). He is our fair judge, who knows our minds and hearts.

We can take confidence in the promises of God found in His word. We can “give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness” and “sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.” (Psalm 7:17).

Let’s Pray

God Most High, that is who you are. Above all things. Above all people. Above all circumstances. Please forgive me, God, when I turn to others, accomplishment, and my own sufficency for my sense of security. God, may I be upright in heart — in my motives and actions. May you alone save me and nothing nor no one else.

In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.

My shield is God Most High who saves the upright in heart.

Encounter God Scripture Memory Challenge

You’re not alone if you feel like your concept of God may not be entirely accurate. That’s why I’m inviting you to spend an entire year focusing on the names of God and His attributes as found in His Word through participating in our Encounter God Scripture Memory Challenge.

Each week, we’re committing to these four simple steps:

  1. Memorizing One Name or Attribute of God
  2. Memorizing the Key Verse
  3. Studying the Key Verse in Context of the Chapter of Scripture
  4. Praying According to God’s Name or Attribute

To get started, grab the Encounter God: 52-week Scripture Memory & Prayer Scripture resource so that you can print out each week’s card.

Each week, use the card to practice your memory work and study the Scripture reference in context with us.

As you embrace this challenge, don’t go at it alone. Join me on the More to Be Facebook page each week for Scripture graphics that will help you remember your weekly focus plus a Wednesday in the Word video or audio teaching.
