The LORD that Heals | Encounter God #8

When you’re not feeling well, what do you do? Do you run to a doctor or Google? A friend or a medicine cabinet? Do you seek out God and others to pray for you? Or is that your last resort?

What is your habit, which might have been modeled for you?

Quite possibly, it is time for you to see God as someone you can run to when you’re suffering in your physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational wellness. Instead of being the last resort, is it time for you to turn to Him first?

While that may not be your tendency anymore than it was for the Israelites, even after witnessing God’s miraculous rescue of them from slavery in Egypt and the parting of the Red Sea, we can at least become aware of the option and give ourselves grace when we doubt God’s abilities.

He said, “If you will carefully obey the Lord your God, do what is right in his sight, pay attention to his commands, and keep all his statutes, I will not inflict any illnesses on you that I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”

Exodus 15:26 CSB

We can use the Word God has given us as our plumb-line.

God is not a god of gimmicks.

He is faithful. He is trustworthy. He keeps His promises. He will give us the way forward when we choose His ways for how we live our lives.

Let’s Pray

Lord, thank You for being the LORD that Heals. Thank You that Your healing is not limited but that it is limitless. Thank You that You heal us emotionally, spiritually, relationally, and physically. Forgive us when we turn to other sources for healing and never stop to ask for Your will and way. Please make us sensitive to seeking You. Please increase our faith and help us when we doubt Your trustworthiness. May You, God, heal, us . . . our families . . . communities . . . nation . . . and world.

In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
