Does it feel like God is merciful and compassionate as you look around our world? Or do you find yourself questioning who God is? And what He allows?
It is understandable, in light of the chaos we find ourselves in. It is not just COVID-19 that has sent our world into a tailspin, but the aftermath of George Floyd’s death and the peaceful protests against racism, which have turned into riots and violence throughout the United States.
If you’ve listened to the More to Be Podcast episode with Barb Roose on Grace and Truth, you know that what is missing from our world is deeply rooted in our self-focus and neglect to pursue loving one another as made in the image of God. That kind of love oozes mercy and compassion.
The Lord is merciful and compassionate,
Psalm 145:8
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
God is not only merciful and compassionate. He is also slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
Soak in that truth.
And imagine what our world might look like if we were more like our Father in Heaven and His beloved son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
God, you are merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. Thank You that Your word promises us these truths that are unchanging, no matter our circumstance. Please, Father, forgive us when we don’t represent You well in this world. Forgive us when we forsake Your commands to live like You and love like You. Help us, Lord, to be instruments of Your love and peace, mercy and compassion.
In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen
