What is the best way to handle gossip?

What is the best way to handle gossip? When a person gossips, they are failing to love the person they speak about. It may be true that one does not like that person, that the person did something annoying or stupid, and it may feel good to “vent your frustration” about it. But as Christians, there is a better way. Luke 6:27-28 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” How can we possibly love our “enemies”?  Only through prayer.…

What do you do with family members (especially siblings) that are outspoken non-believers?

What do you do with family members (especially siblings) that are outspoken non-believers? It is such a struggle to not be able to share our love for the Lord with our siblings. For each Believer there is a deep desire is to be able to be sisters and brothers in Christ with our siblings. However, as much as we want this to be our reality, the salvation of our loved ones is in God’s hands and not ours. So how can we go on in our relationship with the freedom to express ourselves without being offensive, and still striving to…

I’m struggling between what the Bible says about not judging others, since everyone has sin, and admonishing friends who are clearly doing something wrong. Can you help me understand this better?

I’m struggling between what the Bible says about not judging others, since everyone has sin, and admonishing friends who are clearly doing something wrong. Can you help me understand this better? Matthew 7 Judging Others 1“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3“Why do you…

How can we learn to accept ourselves?

How can we learn to accept ourselves just the way we are and grow in security and contentment? In order to find true, Godly contentment, we must accept our identity in Christ! It is a misnomer to think we will ever love or fully accept ourselves, for to do so would mean we would either have to never sin or pretend it doesn’t exist. When we have a true understanding of nature, we will see that we need Christ even more. Only then will we find the peace we are searching for as we receive Jesus as our Savior.  Even so,…

Sometimes I feel like being a Christian is so boring. Is it bad to feel that way?

Sometimes I feel like being a Christian is so boring. Is it bad to feel that way? Being a Christian doesn’t mean we are not allowed to have feelings, so please don’t be hard on yourself for questioning the status and experience of your faith. Yet, that said, how we feel about our faith has much to do with what we think about life and God, and what we make of our experiences. For example, I have a friend whose husband serves in a ministry feeding the poor on the streets, helping people change their lives, and sharing the Gospel…
