More than a Pop of Color

As we transition into Spring, we can brighten up our wardrobe as the sun brightens up our day.

I don’t know about you, but I always get excited at the beginning of each new season. I get to wear some clothes that have been tucked away in the back of my closet for months. The first thing that I get excited about at the beginning of spring is bright colors, but I have to be careful not to over do it. So, I try to contain myself with just a pop of color. I can brighten up any boring outfit with adding a necklace, light scarf, or pair of shoes in a bright springtime hue. I even recently bought neon pink shorts for days when I am feeling really bold.

This wardrobe tactic, however, should not be applied to our spiritual life.

Often, we try to bring in a splash of Jesus whenever we feel like it is appropriate, but usually we don’t acknowledge Him at all. In our Christian circles, of course we can throw in a “I’ll pray for that” or a “God is good.” In our other groups, they couldn’t tell us apart from the kind agnostic down the street. Are we really being genuine in either place?

If we know God, He should be plastered all over us like a big neon sign.

He is good. He is love. He is gracious. He is kind. He is everything to us. He should be the reason we wake up in the morning and the smile on our face when we go to sleep at night. I want to know Him like that. I want to have the abundant life He promises us in His Word.

The Bible is a love letter to us not a list of rules used to put us down.

God knows the best way for us to live and that is what is in His Word. I don’t want to throw Him on every once in a while like I will with my new neon shorts. {<–Click to Tweet} I want Him to be present all day, everyday. The only way we can have a relationship with God like that is to get to know Him. We have to seek His heart so that we can learn how to have His nature.

“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10b ESV

What are some easy ways to add a pop of color to your everyday outfits?

How are you daily seeking to know God more and wear Him boldly in your life?
