Focus

Colossians 3:15 NLT
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Decision

Be thankful.  A wise woman said that thanksgiving precedes the blessing. It does!

[Tweet “An attitude of gratitude ushers in a countenance transformation, even if our circumstances remain the same. “]

The blessing isn’t like receiving the gift we’ve dreamed about for months and finally put on our Christmas list! It isn’t about the outcome we desire, or the one we sacrificed hours toward acquiring.

This blessing gift comes through having a radical perspective change, which invites Christ to dwell fully within us and permeate our trial moment with His perfect peace.

Simply choosing to speak words of thanks unto the Lord will entirely transform the manner in which we face suffering and how we respond to the bumps life brings. This thankful posture comes through meditating — or thinking on — what is true about God while reminding ourselves that our inheritance in Christ gives us all that we need (not always what we want) from now until eternity. While we don’t need to give thanks for the bad stuff, we can choose to give thanks to the Lord for who He is and how He provides for us in every situation!

Surrender

Heavenly Father, heighten my sensitivity to the attitude of my heart so that I may become a woman gives you thanks in all circumstances. <–Click to Tweet This and Bless Others.  Show me the ways I can change my grumble and complaining into words of gratitude and songs of praise. Forgive me Lord, for the habit of discontentment. I surrender it to you and commit to you that I will strive for living with a new habit of thanksgiving. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Reflection

In what moments throughout your day do you find yourself mostly likely to complain? Can you think now of something else to focus on in those moments, so that you can intentionally change your grumble to thankfulness?

  1. SOOOO true! NOT easy but so vital to our spiritual walk. God was just reminding me about this yesterday as I was mentally whining about something. It was a sweet gentle correction then and a lovely reminder here to encourage me more. Thank you 🙂 Blessings on this Word-Filled Wednesday.
