Baby Steps. Faith in Action.

I get it.

The thought of starting ETC. may sound exciting to you, but the logistics of bringing it all to life is just plain scary.  You worry about whether you’re good enough.  You wonder if girls would even show up.  You have the desire but have yet to find the right partner or host site.

I understand exactly how you feel as I walk through this process with a local group of ladies getting ready to launch an ETC. group this coming fall.

It is so stinking exciting to see how God is responding to their baby steps of faith.  Each one, eager to be trained in how to mentor the next generation of girls, even though they can’t image who those girls might be or how they’ll come into their lives.  Women, part of a church body, diverse in age, experience, and upbringing; some married, some divorced and single.  Some eager.  Some tentative.  But they are all walking by faith together, sensing the Holy Spirit tapping on their hearts and drawing them into a calling to impact the next generation.

I’ve heard their secret thoughts of uncertainty as well as the longing in the heart of one dear friend, as she waits seemingly alone on God, hoping to see how and where He’ll use her to bring an ETC. group to life.

Yes, months of praying and planning and waiting.  Maybe.  Not.  Maybe.  Not.   And then God bursts forth in our passing-by conversation, opening our eyes to how He’s working.  I shared with her about this other ETC. group forming nearby and how they’ve recently decide their group will be for twenty-somethings.  She gasped!  I exhaled.  As though God spoke to us out loud, we both realized that she could join their work, bringing her enthusiasm and experience to their efforts.

Isn’t God amazing!

He’s in the details while we’re waiting in the silence!

He’s planning on how the body will come together and be used for His purposes.  It is the same way He worked when the Israelites were building the tabernacle…

Exodus 35:22 NLT

…women came, all whose hearts were willing.

They brought to the Lord their offerings…

They presented…objects of every kind as a special offering to the Lord.

…He’s working in each one of us.  He takes our willing hearts and a desire to bring what we have — our gifts, talents, resources, skills — as a special kind of offering.  What a delight to co-labor with the Lord in His work, offering our lives as a sacrifice, right where we are, right in our mess, right here, purposed by God.

What’s does your offering to the Lord look like?

Tell us. We really want to know and give thanks to the Lord for you!

How can your gifts, talents, resources, and skills be used especially by the Lord?

Brainstorm with us.  Let us walk alongside you to figure it out.  (By the way, this is what I do as a life coach and I love it!)

Could it be that God is calling you to start an ETC. ministry?

If so, let us know.  Email more at moretobe dot com and talk to Lisa about taking the next step.

Or is there another step of faith the Lord is laying on your heart?

Let us know, so we can pray for you!

  1. I needed this because mt enthusiasm was slipping into “I’m not so sure!” Been praying for 3 years about doing this. Time to get off my knees and act. Question: How do we pick who to ask? We have about 30 to choose from.
