For All The Single Ladies. And For Those Who Are Waiting With Them.

Single ladies, do you feel like you’re in the middle of the waiting game?

Is it old news that you’re often the third wheel in a couple’s paradise?

Are you tired of the pressure from friends and family to find just the perfect guy {to marry}?

I can’t give you a recipe for finding your perfect mate. That’s not what I am here for.

I can’t promise you that your finally will come.

But I can be certain that in the waiting, God has a plan for transforming your life.<-Tweet This

He always does.

As we wait in the stark silence of God’s impending will, we are actually in the middle of His will. <-Tweet This

I’ve learned this through my seasons of waiting on the Lord, through trials and challenges, dreams and hopes.

Teens

I bet more than half or you are in hot pursuit of a cute guy who sits across from you in Math class, partly out of a desire for companionship (that’s how God made you), but also a little bit out of fear of being alone. Forever. Or maybe you’re after that little bit attention he gives you when you flirt with him on the way out the door. Sure, it feels good to get his eyes locked in on yours. I get it. I remember that feeling.

Twenty-somethings

I bet your story isn’t very different from our teen gals. Instead of Math class, maybe it is the other intern or co-worker on the other side of that cubicle wall.  Your desires haven’t changed much from high school, but your passion to have your needs met seem to racing wild. You want the love, unconditionally, but with a commitment, too. Of course, there are those of you running from the “I do,” more out of fear than purpose. More out of cynical spirit than a determined philosophy on the viability of marriage.

Thirty-somethings and beyond

T his is where the single factor seems to get ugly, right? As though it isn’t rough enough dealing with your own, private relationship status, your lack of mate seems to be reason for everyone else to voice their opinion and offer their pressures.

May I say I am sorry on behalf of everyone that spoke a hurtful word to you?

May I say I’m sorry if I was that person.

Your relationship status is not anyone’s business, unless you care to speak of it. However, your single factor is entirely God’s business. He wants to speak to you about your love life and longings, fears and philosophy.

God is in the business of our relationships.

Author and screenplay writer, Cheryl McKay learned this lesson personally, and was humble enough to share the first part of her story in her novel, Never the Bride.  She describes the journey of faith and singleness, while waiting for love and marriage with no end in sight.

Until she surrendered her love story to the Lord. Until she continued to wait on Him. Until she could write a brand new book, Finally the Bride.

Finally the Bride became a truth for Cheryl, only after she fell in love, deeply and authentically, with her Lord. This transformation was a journey, still in progress of course, which she shares poignantly in  Never the Bride and Finally the Bride.  Cheryl uses humor, honesty, and hope-filled words to reveal her heart, struggles, and challenges. She compassionately and comes alongside others finding themselves unwanting of their singleness, to offer an inspiring testimony and new perspective. Finally the Bride is a book worth reading, both by single ladies and married alike, because it is really a story of faith, uncovering the idiosyncrasies of trusting a God who doesn’t reveal His future will but provides for us today in His perfect will.
